“Peter and John went down and prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit, for it had not yet fallen upon them; they had only been baptized…then they laid hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit.” Acts 8:16
“In the course of their Christian development, those baptized at an early age are expected, when they are ready and have been duly prepared, to make a mature public affirmation of their faith and commitment to the responsibilities of their Baptism and to receive the laying on of hands by the bishop.” (Book of Common Prayer, p. 412)
It has long been a practice of the Church that those who wish to become full members of the Church spend time in prayer and study in preparation of making such a life-altering commitment for Jesus Christ. Confirmation Classes are usually held each year approximately 6 – 9 months prior to the bishop’s parish visitation which has historically been in September or October.
